ALBUM OF THE WEEK - "THE USUAL SUSPECTS"

Today, the story of the album begins in JLT's own words...

"The Usual Suspects gets its name from one of my favorite movies but it applies to all my friends who work on my CDs writing and recording.

When thinking of a title it was obvious that many similar people were working with me on a regular basis and I referred to them as 'The Usual Suspects' a group of professional friends and associates coming together to create and perform.

After months of writing with various 'suspects' we came together at Unique Studios in the Times Square area of New York City.

We started working on the tracks and came up with some good arrangements for the songs, then the recording started. Drum tracks first because it is the Bedrock of the songs then we start layering with bass and guitars.

We always have a rough vocal as a guide and in some cases we actually use the 'Guide' vocal as part or all of the final, sometimes I get lucky and have a great take so there is no need to go in again except maybe to 'fix' certain parts.

As always the recording was a good and creative time and all enjoyed it very much. There is always a bit of sentimental feeling when the record is finished after being together for 5 or 6 weeks but the music remains for a lifetime!"
